South Lake Tahoe, December 2, 2022
Synergem Technologies, the leader in the transition to Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1), launches its hosted 9-1-1 network in Northern California. The upgrade to NG9-1-1 means that PSAPs and first responders will no longer struggle to respond to emergencies quickly – and accurately – in the new digital world.
The South Lake Tahoe PSAP is the first of a group of five that will make the transition this year with Synergem Technologies, the Regional Network Service Provider for NG9-1-1 traffic in Northern California. Myron Herron, President and CTO from Synergem Technologies, said “the California project has been a showcase for demonstrating how the NENA i3 standard can be implemented across large regions with multiple providers. Synergem is proud to have taken a leadership role in making this happen.” The public relies on 9-1-1 to work in challenging conditions, and the switch to NG9-1-1 is a big step in making this happen in Northern California.
Emergency callers can send text messages, photos, videos, and voice messages to 9-1-1 giving the public greater access to emergency services. The transfer of real-time data on the NG9-1-1 network, coupled with the ESInet, geospatial call routing, carrier linking, and support for legacy and NG9-1-1 traffic will save more lives in every community.
“This is just the first step. By the end of next year we expect to have all 169 PSAPs in Northern California up and running so they can experience the benefits that NG9-1-1 brings to their communities,” said Herron.
With the NG9-1-1 go-live in South Lake Tahoe, Synergem Technologies showcases the promise of next generation 9-1-1 in California and across our nation.
